about

ART.IS.∙ is a cooperation between the musician, Etienne Nillesen, and the visual artist/ philosopher, Eva Jeske. Together they work on the intersection between music and visual art. The book is part I (released July 15th 2019) which includes paintings, a text and a downloadcode found at the end of the book. The book/album presents the reader/listener with suggestions, thoughts and arguments, both personal and philosophical about visual art and music.

The music (part II)

The downloadcode that comes with the book gives access to the music and is Nillesen playing to 8 different themes that are also interpreted visually by artist Eva Jeske in the ART.IS.∙ book (part I). Every piece he has recorded can be seen/ heard like a little statue. The music doesn’t have a common musical form and for the most part doesn’t even have a development that you would expect in music. The music is very static. This creates the possibility to look/listen to it more deeply, see/hear it from different angles, walk around it with your ears, and discover different movements, layers, depth, colors, structures and details.

Every book is unique + numbered and is part of a limited edition (100 books)
